21 May 2021 Middle East, Central Asia and Türkiye, Afghanistan, Pakistan
Summary
In 2012, nomadic herders in Mongolia filed a complaint regarding the impacts of the Oyu Tolgoi mine on land, water, and their traditional livelihoods, with the support of local NGOs. The CAO responded to the complaint, bringing together the herder-miner-communities in the southern Gobi Desert and the mining company to resolve the dispute. This short movie highlights what went on, and the impact of the dispute resolution process on the people involved.
