 
Esteban Tovar
Officer | Strategy and Operations
Esteban Tovar Cornejo, a national of Mexico, brings extensive experience in audit, compliance, and accountability within multilateral development institutions. Before joining CAO, he served at the Inter-American Development Bank Group’s Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI), where he led a team managing social and environmental complaints and oversaw MICI’s eligibility process, along with the Mechanism´s data analytics and its financial resource planning . His professional background also includes roles in Aeromexico Group’s Office of Corporate Affairs and Industry, where he conducted economic and political analysis, and in the Office of the Mexican Presidency, supporting communication activities for the National Security Council.
Esteban holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). He is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
